Information for Referees
Refereeing is a great way to earn money and give back to your club during the soccer season.
Referee jerseys and kits are supplied by WYSC.
Referee clinics are typically offered in early Spring.
The minimum age to become a referee is 12 years old (small sided) and 14 years old (11-a-side). * Refresher course must be done yearly.
Small-Sided Clinic: For new referees aged 12-13 (Participant must be 12 years old on or before December 31 of the current year). Referees completing this clinic receive Small-Sided Referee designation and are certified to officiate games up to U13.
Entry-Level Clinic: For new referees who are aged 14 years or older (Participant must be 14 years old on or before December 31 of the current year).
Referees completing this clinic receive Youth or District designations which allows them to officiate all small-sided or full sided matches as long as the referee is two years older than the players.
To become a Registered BC Soccer Referee please visit BC Soccer Referee Programs for information and to register. Whistler Youth Soccer will reimburse the cost of the course to any active WYSC member.
