How It All Works
Please be sure to indicate your player's availability in TeamSnap for all practices, games, and events. Your player's Coach spends time preparing each and every training session and the activities they choose will depend on how many players will be at practice.
Our Head Coach, Mark Freeman, can usually be found on the field during all practice sessions. If you have any questions for him, please see him after the session or email whistlersoccer@hotmail.com.
FAQ’s about Fees
Why aren’t WYSC fees the same as Pemberton, Squamish or North Shore teams?
Many factors impact the fees:
- Some clubs have only intersquad play and do not pay to join BC Coastal or North Shore Interlock leagues thus keeping fees lower.
- Some clubs have a lower overhead cost (differences in rental fees, equipment, operations) and/or more sponsors.
- Some clubs are much larger, making each age group full and spreading out the cost between more members.
- Length of season and number of practices may also differ which impacts fees.
Are there any subsidies or other financial help?
Yes, there are a few options:
- Whistler Community Services Society offers financial support for children to participate in sport- Kids Recreation Financial Assistance • Whistler Community Services Society
- KidSport BC offers financial support for children to participate in sport- Provincial Fund - KidSport British Columbia
- WYSC offers payments in installments, spread out over the season (select that option when checking out)
Is there anything I can do as a parent to help lower fees?
Yes, please:
- Participate in fundraising by sharing Sponsorship information, and/or participating in club fundraisers.
- Join the board of directors to be involved in setting budgets and making strategic plans for the club.
- Share registration info with friends.
Players are grouped by birth year
Depending on how many players register at each age group, some teams may have one or two birth years combined to ensure a fun and quality experience for each player.
Each team is unique
We are a small soccer club and each team is managed independently by their volunteer Coach and Team Manager, under the overall guidance of WYSC. League participation is determined by the WYSC Head Coach, but participation in additional events and tournaments is determined by individual teams.
Programs at WYSC
It is important to note that WYSC's goal is to place every child who wants to play soccer on an age-appropriate team. If your child is keen to play soccer at an elite level, or even just at a higher level than their age-appropriate Whistler team, they will likely need to play with a bigger club in the Lower Mainland. Talk to the WYSC Head Coach if you have questions.
Communication
The main way your player's Coaches and Team Manager will communicate with you is through TeamSnap One. At the start of the season, the WYSC Club Manager will roster every registered player to their proper group on TeamSnap. Once this is done, you will receive an email invitation to join the group.
Please accept the invitation and download the TeamSnap One app so that you don’t miss important communications.
Once you have accepted the invitation, you can add your child's other parent or guardian to the group on TeamSnap and fill in any missing contact information.
