A message from Steve September, our Technical Director.
Hello Whistler coaches
I enjoyed our recent session and I am looking forward to working with
you again over the next few months.
My desire is to enhance your soccer coaching experience and try and move
you to a new level.
With your continued participation this will be a good direction for yourself,
your team and the club.
In order to do this I will require that you look at the programs I will be placing
before you over the next little while. These programs are designed to help you
walk and then we can all run.
Run, more efficient training sessions while working together as a unit. I will have
probably done an evaluation of the talent on your team as well as your coaching style
and abilities. In order to help you gain a better understanding of your role I will need
some feedback from you.
Please forward me a Yearly Action Plan (YAP). These are really just your expectations
of your team, the players and yourself over the course of the next few months (May- October).
In other words,” what would you like to see happen over this period”?
This would help me guide this process so that your job as a coach will be more
beneficial and have results that can be measurable over that period of time.
What we need to work with in the immediate future is;
1) practice and training regime and the expectations of the TD
2) player evaluations your continued input towards long term development
3) team dynamics, understanding who you have and how you can use them for
the overall benefit of the team.
4) Set plays; offensive, defensive, and transitional
once these basic aspects are in place, your team will be able to work on other parts
of the game more naturally. You will able to identify problems in areas and create a
course of action.
The good thing about this is that I am here to help you, develop, grow and nurture your team and the age group that you are coaching within.
