WHITECAPS FC LAUNCH SEA-TO-SKY ACADEMY CENTRE
In partnership with Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton associations
VANCOUVER, BC – The Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the launch of a new Sea-to-Sky Regional Academy Centre to be based in Squamish and in partnership with Squamish Youth Soccer Association (SYSA), Whistler Youth Soccer Club (WYSC), and Pemberton Youth Soccer Association (PYSA).
“We’re very pleased to be partnering with the three main soccer associations in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor,” said Whitecaps FC director of soccer development Dan Lenarduzzi. “With the proximity to our main centre in Vancouver, our staff will be able to work closely with the young talent in the region.”
SYSA, WYSC, and PYSA have approximately 2,000 combined boys and girls from ages four to 17 registered for soccer between the three organizations.
“It’s important to state that within BC, Whitecaps FC Academy Centres are positioned to be supportive of EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) programming – our partner league and main scouting vehicle for our programs in BC,” added Lenarduzzi. “Our Sea To Sky Academy will certainly be part of the pathway in forwarding players to the BCSPL’s regional team, Mountain FC.”

Merriman will work closely with Academy Centres and Pre-Residency director and head coach Bart Choufour, who will oversee the curriculum and planning.
The Prospects Academy will be by evaluation and invitation only. It will include boys and girls from U-9 to U-18 and will run in three phases. The fall phase will run from September to December, the winter phase from January to March, and the spring phase from April to June.
