Hi All Coaches,

Soccer Update (Mon 29 Aug – Sun 4Sept)
Welcome back!
We are looking forward to another exciting soccer season and thank you all for signing up again to join the coaching team.
A few important dates to note and some good information to be ready for start up.
Please make sure you read, so you can help any parents that have questions. The website is still the BEST PLACE FOR INFORMATION……everything is uploaded and available online.

MIDWEEK PRACTICES START UP TUESDAY 6 SEPTEMBER

SATURDAY SOCCER STARTS UP ON SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER and the following applies:

U6 – U10 Divisions on Saturday 10 September

Check in upon arrival at desk

Timbits jerseys will be issued throughout the session once teams/groups have been organized

NO deposit cheque required

COACHES please arrive 15-20mins PRIOR to session start times

VOLUNTEER PARENTS REQUIRED to help with jersey hand out etc. Please check in upon arrival at shed

U12 – U14 & U16 Co-Ed on Saturday 10 September

BRING $30 deposit cheque, made payable to ‘WYSC’ post dated 1 July, 2017

Teams will be organized throughout the session

Team Lists will be emailed AFTER the first session

Blue Shorts are available for purchase at the shed for new U12 players and anyone needing new shorts.

T-shirts and socks (included in fees) will be issued during session

COACHES please arrive 15-20mins PRIOR to session start time to collect equipment, jerseys etc

This year has been a little difficult trying to find space and time and a couple of divisions day of practice has changed once we move indoors which is unfortunate but unavoidable. I have done the best I can with what is available.

Saturday 10 September 9-5pm AND Saturday 17 September 9-5pm

Equipment
Equipment – U12 boys and girls coaches, please check in upon arrival at the shed and we will issue you with your coach bag, bag of balls and bench.

Uniforms
Team jerseys will be handed out to all players on Saturday 10 September for all divisions.U8-U10 no deposit cheque required. U12 and U14/16 Coed $30 post-dated (1 July 2017) deposit cheque made payable to ‘WYSC’ is required.
Please wear your coach t-shirt if you have one. If not please check in at the shed upon arrival and you will be issued with a t-shirt.

Criminal Record Checks
We have an easy online system to get this done in just a few minutes.
CRC are valid for 3 years so I have many already on file if you have coached in the past few years.
For new coaches, please apply now so we have the paperwork done prior to season start up.

NEW FIELD RULES – A REMINDER

1/ Dogs MUST be leashed and away from players during soccer practices and games. Again this year we saw an obscene number of balls damaged and thrown away due to being punctured by dogs.

2/ BIKES and STROLLERS/CHARIOTS should be left parked away from field playing areas.

3/ NO SPECTATORS are to be in the area between the 2 half fields when set up for U12 games. This space is reserved for players, coaches and referees ONLY.

Parents and spectators are to be on the outside edge of the field. Please help by reminding others that this rule applies and go to the outside edge so that coaches and referees don’t have to ask you to move.

The coaches need to coach, the referees need to referee and parents need watch from the outer edge of the field, so the narrow strip between the fields is not congested.

SCAT 3 Baseline Testing Opportunity
Previously the club offered testing on field with a qualified Baseline tester, however we are now working with Back In Action Physiotherapy and testing will be completed in the clinic.

ePACT – we are no longer using this system. We have the information required within our RAMP registration system and we found that it was a resource that was not well used and therefore not worth spending the money on.

COACHING COURSESSAVE THE DATE
We have a couple of opportunities for our coaches to participate in this Fall. BC Soccer requires that all coaches have participated in coaching courses appropriate for their age group.
SOCCER 4 LIFE – U13+

All Sea2Sky Rep Team Coaches are required to take this course and must pre-register. No fee applies. Course includes theory and practical sessions over 4 evenings at Spring Creek Community School Gym (entry via lower doors) in Whistler as follows:

Thurs 15 & 22 Sept 7:30-10:30pm
Fridays 16 & 23 Sept 6:30-10:30pm

Location: Spring Creek Community School Gym
Bring indoor and outdoor shoes, notepad and pen.

FUNDAMENTALS (U7-U8)
Wednesday 21 Sept 6-9pm
Wednesday 28 Sept 6-9pm
Location: at Brennan Park Recreation Centre, Squamish
At this stage, players should participate in stimulating practices and games that develop basic technical skills in a FUN atmosphere. The emphasis should be movement exercises and games that promote a feel for the ball while teaching basic principles of play within a fun but structured setting. Mini game formats are used, ranging from 3v3 to 5v5 and a basic league schedule can be created but no standings should be kept. All players should play equal time and try all team positions, including goalkeeper, and equal time should be allotted to practices and games. *Coaches should be prepared to participate in classroom and on field

Pre-requisite: N/A (minimum age requirement is 16 years old)
Course Length: 7.5 hours
Course Fee: $40

LEARNING TO TRAIN (U9-U12)
Saturday 1 October 9-5pm
Sunday 2 October 9-5pm
Location: Brennan Park Recreation Centre, Squamish

This stage introduces players to disciplined training and begins to develop their understanding of principles of play alongside their skills practice. Repetitions are important to develop technical proficiency, but creating a fun and challenging environment is still paramount to stimulate learning and promote a love of the game. Game formats can range from 6v6 to 8v8 as players advance through this stage, and again a simple league schedule can be created, but no standings should be kept – the emphasis is still FUN. All players play equal time and try all team positions, including goalkeeping, and the training to competition ratio should be 2 to 3 training sessions for every game. Coaches should be prepared to participate in classroom and on field

Pre-requisite: N/A (minimum age requirement is 16 years old)
Course Length: 14 hours
Course Fee: $72.50
