Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden said, “Council and staff have worked diligently to deliver a draft budget that balances operational demands with municipal revenue and contributions to reserves.”

She added, “The meeting is an opportunity for citizens to learn about the organization, corporate and budget planning processes, key factors affecting our plans, and major projects and focus areas for 2016. I invite everyone to attend to have a better understanding of where we are now as a community and where we are going.”

In November 2015 Council identified its priorities for the 2016 Corporate Plan and budget:
•Community well-being including affordability
•The accommodation mix for visitors and residents
•Transportation planning
•Environmental initiatives
•Maintaining our focus to visitation and resort growth
•Partnership within the resort, region and beyond
•Continued focus on prudent fiscal management and the use of the Corporate Plan as our foundational strategic road map

The Corporate Plan and budget are also guided by long-term community strategic plans and ongoing input by partners, committees and the community throughout the year.
